people that reverse handicap that sandbag their handicap. I think some may reverse handicap to get in to some amateur events as certain handicaps are required to get in to them.
I tried to get in to the Missouri Am Stroke play when it was held at Porto Cima like 20 plus years ago, i kept a handicap then but it was too high to get in initially but i got in as a alternate but missed the cut shooting an 84. Hardest golf course i've every played. It poured rain the entire round but the greens remained hard as a rock, rought was crazy as well. I recall a ton of people didn't break 100 and they would have allegedly been scract or better handicaps...my handicap was much higher than scratch. I think a lot of people reverse handicaped so they could play Porto Cima.
