many people are going to be changing their opinions of Trump very much between now and election day.
A LOT of people, however, were shocked at Biden's mental condition, including many of his supporters. Independent voters and those on the fence would probably be far less inclined to vote for him after the debate, and that isn't likely to change much between now and election day... at least in a positive way. His condition is what it is and will not be getting markedly better, but it could certainly get worse, perhaps much worse. It is virtually all downside with little to no upside.
It sounds like the powers that be in the Democratic Party, including big donors are overwhelmingly in favor of having Biden step down. He's a wounded duck at this point, it seems to me.
