appropriate on this fine Independence Day. Our Founding Fathers had their heads on straight with regards to the role of government in our society.

Government is a construct of people and should be a servant and tool of the people to achieve the ends for which we were all created. When it falls short, it should be brought back into line so that it will better serve the people in achieving the harmony and right order that our Creator intends for us.

If it gets too far out of whack it can be tossed in the trash and the people can start over in fashioning a government that more effectively meets those ends.

(That is my own rough paraphrase, not an exact quote from the Declaration of Independence.) ;-)
