Mizzou doesn't want to win because winning begets expectations.

Better to be mediocre or worse than develop a fan base expecting your school to competitively fund these sports programs.

The only time Mizzou has departed from this, post 1970, is when they beefed up nearly every sport in the lead up to SEC/BIG expansion.

NIL newness has allowed for an uptick in talent recently for Mizzou football and basketball but look for changes to come eventually that favor again the schools which most want to win in sports.
