how is the bakery a victim?

Bakery signs a lease, the landlord honors the lease, but doesn't renew it.
If the bakery expected to be in that space longer, they could have done one of at least two things:
-negotiate a longer lease
-buy the building
If they knew the building was for sale (the sign in the parking lot if there was one would be a pretty decent clue) then they could've bought the building.
Just as there are risks to owning real estate, there are risks to renting real estate, especially from a commercial standpoint.
