to influence government policy, as are many of the climate models.
But there are good models that are less political for sure.
Working in agriculture, I have seen a lot of these, as they are definitely needed when looking at investments and strategies from businesses.
One example is growing season (last frost to first frost). The season has definitely increased over the last 20-30 years, and for sure changes the crops you might want to plant. For instance, corn acres have been moving north over time due to increase in growing season.
The other problem with COVID models is that they were never publicly updated as new information came forth.
If they were used to help people/businesses make decisions on what do to (and not government policy), their releases would have been very different.
No different than all of the so called "masks do not work" research, which was mostly not research
