The expansion of primacy of the individual is a far nobler goal than an ever expanding set of law, code, rules and on and on, from multiple layers of government to control the individual ultimately through a system created by, run by and protected by political entities and people.

More and more control in the hands of an elected, and increasingly an unelected bureaucracy is what our current state is. And more and more control is a footpath to ever increasing authoritarianism.
