Whataburger is better than McDonald’s, Wendy’s, or Burger King, which are the other restaurants in their category.

Whether or not, it is better than another category like a five guys, smash, Freddie’s, or in-n-out is probably a matter of personal preference, but it’s simply a different category.

I would argue that steak ‘n Shake is probably better than all of these, especially for the value, but they are kind of in a class of their own, as far as type of restaurant

Probably the better burger among the fast food places, especially when you consider value, is Culver’s. But I would say they are kind of a hybrid between the traditional fast foods in the first category, and the more high-end types in the second category.
