The third week of Donald Trump’s criminal hush money trial in New York began with the judge holding the former president in contempt for a series of social media posts that he said violated a gag order barring attacks on jurors and witnesses.
Judge Juan Merchan fined Trump $9,000 and warned he could be jailed for further violations “if necessary and appropriate under the circumstances.”
Prosecutors called new witnesses to the stand today, including Keith Davidson, an attorney who represented Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, two women who have said they had affairs with Trump, which he denies.
