The lower court ruling wrongly implied that the Trump argument was that the President is not encumbered by any law.

As was made clear in today's proceeding, Trump's attorney was able to differentiate between 'personal/political acts' that are not covered by immunity versus "official acts" that were.

The discussion again evolved to the stupid "SEAL Team 6 assassination of a political rival" scenario. I think Trump's lawyer did a better job of showing that would NOT be an official act:

1) It was an illegal order that the military leaders were duty bound to reject.

2) The order (even when not carried out) would be an impeachable offense that could be followed with a criminal charge

Contrast that with Obama ordering the military to extrajudicially kill an American citizen in a combat zone (as he did).. while technically illegal, it was an official act (not political or personal) and would be covered by full immunity.
