Most refrigerators use between 3 and 6 amps, but can draw up to 15 amps at peak. For this reason, it's recommended to connect refrigerators to a 15-20 amp dedicated 120-volt circuit. This is because refrigerators cycle on and off, and when they turn on, they can draw more current. Sharing a circuit with other appliances can lead to the circuit being overloaded, which can trip the circuit breaker.
