Handy as all get out for holidays and extra frozen food (and beer mugs). Only problem was the coils would freeze up and I'd have to defrost it. I'd wait until winter when I could put stuff outside in coolers because it was about a 2-3 day process to thaw it out.
Researched and realized ice was getting hung up in the drain tube during defrost cycles and caused water to back up and refreeze on the coils. The fix was to wrap a piece of wire around the defrost heater wire and have the new wire extend into the drain tube.
Got that all finished and was putting it back together and the VERY LAST SCREW would not line up with the hole it needed to go into....so I got my drill to use as a screwdriver. Started in and "hissssssssss". I'd missed the hole and hit one of the coils.
Fvcked it up big time.
Got it out of the basement (quite a task) and delivered it to Advantage Metal Recycling.
Otherwise it would be easily 35 years old and still running.
