Addressing the discussion below on the difference and the ethics .
It’s mostly a moot point , transfers and player movement are so commonplace now I doubt there are any enforceable guidelines remaining .
Why would an administration or coaching staff waste any time or effort trying to retain a player , or call out another school.
A player either stays or leaves , schools and fans can stop planning to enjoy a player for more than one year .
When the portal opens it’s a whole new college sports fan hobby , watching who comes and leaves your team.
Fascinating how little importance the actual school seems to be to many student / athletes. Just passing through .
