If Nato entered the war, including employing their air power, the Russians would immediately respond with hypersonic missile attacks against every airbase and commercial airport in every Nato nation. Our satellite surveillance, communications and guidance systems would be destroyed in the first day or two. Every Naval warship and every Western cargo vessel would be targeted anywhere in the world. Western air and naval forces would not exist past the first week. The Russians see this war as existential and would not be deterred from using nukes. I'm not certain Western leaders fully understand the risk their taking in assisting the Ukrainians, as far as they already have. The U.S. and it's allies are far more vulnerable and have much more to risk from escalation.
