If I had more room in the subject line, I would have included Rask, JG and Ace, et al, but Fiji was pontificating below that Trump is not qualified to be president and people are too stupid to realize that.
His thought that the average citizen is too stupid to realize what is going on (I refer to the H.L. Mencken quote: "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public") is certainly a valid one. However, the Constitution lists the requirements to be president. After quoting the exact clause in Article II, I can spell them out in simple chapter and verse so Fiji and the crew can understand them.Rd
Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution:
"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."
Translating on a 4th grade level:
1. The president must be a natural born citizen.
2. The president must be at least 35 years of age.
3. The president must have been a resident of the U.S. for 14 years.
So, how, may I ask, is Trump not qualified?
