One can readily see the mindset of the author of the article, and likely of the ownership of the newspaper as well, that they are on board with the leftists ideology of the day that boys and girls can transition from one gender to the other, and that those who don't agree are misguided at best.
"far-right, anti-LGBTQ social media accounts"
"prominent anti-transgender commenters"
"The video, in which the couple rejects their child’s identity as a transgender boy"
" Todd Kolstad and Krista Cummins-Kolstad, posted a video"
"has continued to circulate online despite the couple removing it from Facebook under a Jan. 18 order from a Valley County judge. "
"a teenager who identifies as transgender and was removed from their parents’ custody last fall"
"citing confidentiality about child abuse and neglect proceedings."
"Lieutenant Governor Juras has concluded that DPHHS and the court have followed state policy and law in their handling of this tragic case."
That article doesn't even tell us what state policy and state laws are regarding cases such as these, much less indicating a rationale for why they took the girl from her parents.
"In a later statement, the governor’s spokesperson Kaitlin Price clarified that “*broadly speaking*, the state does not remove minors from homes to provide gender transition services or use taxpayer funds to pay for those services while a minor is in the custody of the state.”"
