and the article you posted only speaks of companies laying off people, and nothing of companies that are hiring.
At any given point there are tens of thousands of people both hiring and firing. The jobs report simply notifies what happened in the last 1-3 months. The unemployment report also gives a weekly, and rolling number as well, but some industry trends can be noted within the jobs report (although I am not sure if the industry trends are based on actual payroll data or survey data)
