My GGPa was born in 1842 and shipped off to America in 1851. He joined the 102nd Ohio VIR at the age of 19. The entire regiment surrendered to Gen. N.B. Forest in 1864 after the Battle of Athens. He was freed from the POW camp on April 22, 1865.
