*MPJ refused to sign with Mizzou if KA was going to be the coach. That doesn't mean this directly led to KA being let go, would likely have happened anyway, but it cemented the change.
*MPJ signing caused other good players i.e. Kassius Robertson, Jeremiah Tilmon, and his brother Jontay to sign. Even with MPJ sidelined by injury, that talent infusion was enough to get us back to the NCAA tournament for the first time in five years and out of the vacuum of the KA failure.
It was a short term fix, and obviously when left to revive the program on his own merits, Cuonzo fell short. But MPJ choosing to stay home did save us from a very very very bad predicament we had gotten ourselves into by the end of the KA era.
