He hurt his draft stock by leaving college at the absolute low point of his value. A talent like him being taken 14th was the result. In almost any other option or scenario available to him he would at a minimum be a top 5 pick in any draft. The only way his decision made sense was if he was convinced he actually physically wasn’t going to be able to play bb and was trying to dupe a team into a short term payday.
Now Jontay I did think was going to seriously impede his ability to play professionally coming out at the time he did. He went entirely undrafted and is mostly a G League player which is preposterous given his physical ability and raw skill set.
Both of them left college at the exact moment when their draft status could not possibly have been lower unless you assume they were going to be physically unable to actually play. I have never in my life commented positively or negatively about a vegan diet towards the Porters or anyone else, nor attempted to make medical assessments about someone’s back injury and long term health status remotely over the internet.
