effective embargo would hurt the wealthy, corrupt oligarchs. Someone said the best way to punish rich people is to turn them into poor people.
Money and power are their motivators, and they go hand-in-hand.
And as mormad suggested short of armed conflict, an embargo and diplomatic pressure, as well as tariffs and public opinion can be powerful tools.
My guess is that you and the pickles of the world favor surrender, capitulation and bowing deeply from the waist.
Weakness is provocative, some will never learn that.
Surrender is easier and while cowardly, the those who surrender can claim the moral high ground by avoiding conflict and death.
