It is a very bad sign, and something to pay attention to I would say.

The family is the building block of any community/society and families have been losing their faith, and their moral fiber. That is the core reason that our society and our world is spiraling downwards.

That destruction of the moral fiber of a nation may show up most rapidly in a republic like ours, but I think it would eventually bring down a society regardless of its political structure.
