shouldn't have to pay any bills, if paying them is terrifying.

That causes emotionsl anxiety and mental anguish. Which, of course can lead to suicide, drug abuse, and criminal activity. And the break up of families and children without parental guidance.

The effects on our society will be catastrophic.

It's not their fault that they borrowed money.

Imagine having to redo a budget to accommodate loan payments. I don't think that's ever had to be done before.
