If the pictures were inappropriate or being used to bully other students then the school could take action.
This one is tougher but if they were being shared at school then the school has some authority to step in.
But if it was done outside of school, no laws were broken and it was not being shared during school time then there is very little the school can do.
Cyberbullying is a huge problem but schools have to address it very carefully. Problems created outside of school very definitely impact the learning environment but if the actions have no connection to the school day or did not happen on school grounds they can be tough to address properly. Especially if the school does not have the cooperation of the parents involved.
