The upper middle class probably pay the highest percentage of their income in taxes. They extend into the highest tax bracket and generally don't have the ability to avoid taxes like the truly wealthy. It doesn't help the the uppermost tax bracket tops out at a relatively low level ($693,000).

The wealthiest pay more taxes but they pay a considerably lower percentage of our income.
