Impressed me as a man of experience, substance and character.

He was a patriot in favor of a strong military, and would not take shjt from other countries. While he may have been all of those, or some of those or partially some of those, he was also a status quo politician. A dc denizen of the swamp.

Boat rockers were not his favorites. Very very disappointing.
