So, the strawman is this: no one has suggested that helping people is wrong, people in this thread have suggested that the govt helping people is wrong (and, often times, counterproductive).

You left out the important qualifier of "govt" because you were employing a dishonest argument tactic to make it look like everyone else in this thread doesn't want to help people.

Can you understand it now? Or do I need to dumb it down further?
