sign a player as opposed to a traditional power?
Would you rather make more money and lose or take a little less and be on national championship contender?
If the money's equal, it's an easy decision to go to a team with a legitimate chance of competing for a national championship.
My guess is teams like Mizzou, Kentucky, South Carolina and Ole Miss would have to pay a stud at least twice as much as the bluebloods (Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State ... etc
Football is a completly different animal than basketball as you only need a couple studs to complete in basketball and your individual star may shine brighter at a weaker program. In football a stud is more likely to look like a dud with a weaker supporting cast.
Conclusion: In football we need to spend at least twice as much for our players than the bluebloods to be nationally competitive. If hypothetically Alabama is spending $10 million in NIL, we need to spend $20-30 million. While a few blue chip players like Burden and Wingo will certainly help, in football it takes a village (a very expensive village).
