He was a 6'4 power forward so obviously had no NBA path, but that doesn't mean he wasn't very good.
He really only played one full season at MU, after getting injured in what would have been his sophomore year eligibility wise following being kicked off the Michigan team and being forced to transfer. In that one season he was the only Tiger ever to lead the team in points, rebounds, and assists in the same season. Was named CPOY, and despite an otherwise pretty craptastic roster led MU to a 2nd place Big 12 finish. He then left early and didn't play a senior season of college.
Obviously the post being cited was made before Kobe made a significant leap forward as a 3pt shooter and could be retroactively revised with that new information. But even that aside Albert was probably the better overall player and certainly more talented and physically gifted than Kobe. Which again is no slight whatsoever to Kobe because Albert was one of the most talented Tigers ever. There is certainly nothing 'so stupid' about that position.
