I know it’s become very tribal and viewing thing’s exclusively through that lens, but as someone not associated with any party from the outside looking in that appears to be the constant. From the stealing of Supreme Court justices, stacking the court from minority rule, the overwhelming gerrymandering to preserve imbalance in voting, all the preposterous shenanigans Trump and his admin got away with, having two impeachments blocked by overt partisanship, all the pushback to holding Trump accountable, and still having him in the picture as a viable and legit candidate now and all the movement towards protecting him and enabling him to cheat and break the system going forward.
Nobody has effectively stopped any of that, there has been no accountability or justice for any of that. I don’t expect any party to take the high road. But I do expect the system and structure to work, and not be allowed to be purposefully undermined and brought down from within. Trump is a huge outlier in terms of how stupid and inept and corrupt he is, and how every action and decision is exclusively through the lens’s of his person benefit and survival. It was inevitable it would come to this, you can’t put someone so clueless and idiotic in that role for 4 years and surround him with the type of people he is forced to associate and expect otherwise. But now it’s time for him to be held accountable and finally go away. He tried to ruin everything and came really close, but it ultimately the country was fortunate he is so inept and nobody really takes him as a serious person. Taking the high road with Trump is not an acceptable approach. He isn’t a normal person with feelings and intelligence and any kind of moral compass, or really any kind of long term mentality. He simply tries to get through each day avoiding getting in trouble and grifting the most possible from his enablers and supporters. There is zero else that ever goes on in his head. Taking the high road with someone that stupid just allows them to continue on their path. It’s been proven conclusively over and over and over by now. To expect differently is foolish.
