Anyone publishing numbers like this when the transfer portal, NIL and Covid all happened in that time period are being disingenuous at best.
We've entered a new era, the folks traipsing around with pitchforks and lanterns have not entered that new era yet, for the most part.
It used to matter deeply who the head coach was because recruitment was largely centered around that coaches record.
In the NIL/Portal era, what matters is how much the fan base pays for players. That's it.
Keep Drink, fire Drink, doesn't matter. Heck hire Saban if you like - he would not be able to recruit at Mizzou much better than Drink, especially after the few seasons of his recruits fail to deliver like he delivers in Alabama.
It could be that the fan base and administration need to go through a coach firing to learn this lesson and if so, so be it.
But unless the Mizzou fanbase is willing to offer a premium for players to come here vs other destinations where the pay is good and the chance to reach the CFP is also good then Mizzou football may well be headed into an extended period of darkness, perhaps worse than the 80s & 90s and perhaps for longer.
The dumbest thing a fan could do is list recent records, claim they are comparable and then beat the drum to fire Drink - at Mizzou's currently level of NIL, we're damn lucky to have him.
But of course Fourth and Long isn't a fan, he's a jayhawk, be mindful of that...
