apps. Threads is pretty f-ing similar to Twitter just scrolling through. There really is not a huge difference at all in that regard. Twitter actually seemed slightly easier to follow posts/replies. The people claiming threads is a way better experience simply don't like musk and his lack of censoring certain types of users.
