Anything works, but also because he is so compromised and corrupt which causes his stupidity to force him to undertake and act in very stupid ways.

There certainly isn’t some big conspiracy against him. He is just a simpleton idiot trying to make it through each day grifting as much as possible from his supporters and trying to remain unaccountable. It isn’t any more complicated that that. But now no one of any credibility or competence will be associated with him so his stupidity is more exposed.
