the US is trying to prevent them from doing so.

There is definitely a lot of tension in our relationship.

Our country is also massively in debt. Our federal debt alone, counting the official debt and the "unfunded liabilities" is about $1.5 million per US taxpayer.

Add in state and local debt, student loans, car loans, mortgages, and assorted other personal debts and the US may not be the best customer base for other countries anymore.
