Is that .500 (or worse) is unacceptable - no matter what conference we're in.

If Drink can't do better than that this year, Desiree needs to find someone who can.

But I do think we need to step up (the SEC conference) and schedule 9 conference games a year - and I would add, a marquee out of conference game.

Don't worry about this being the difference between 6-6 and 7-5 - don't settle for mediocrity and trying to qualify for the Weed Eater Bowl - set your sights much higher.

And....with the 12 team College Football Playoff, you're going to see teams with 3 losses make that playoff.

But if I'm a committee member....and I see Illinois playing 9 conference games - and an out of conference game against LSU - and they are 9-3.....and I see SEC teams with the same 9-3 record - but with 8 conference games - and an out of conference schedule of directional schools.......Illinois wins that tie breaker hands down.

SEC has always been the leader in college football - but even though it's just for the 2024 season - with the thought that we eventually go to a 9 game conference schedule in 2025 - the optics are terrible for the SEC sticking with an 8 conference game schedule.
