game or really any of the on-field aspects of it. sure speeding things up might help a tiny bit, but they're trying to treat terminal cancer with band-aids.
baseball's problems are core systemic business problems. there's no central leadership driving to increase the overall value of the league and the sport. there's no comprehensive distribution model that delivers the product into the consumers' hands or expands the brand. there's no system (or even the will to move toward) any form of competitive balance. there's no coordinated system for attracting and developing a sustainable pipeline for talent.
it's a total **** show of a business. if MLB were listed as a public company, nobody in their right mind would invest in it. and not because it takes too long for a batter to get back in the box. it's because nobody cares whether the batter is in the box or not because we all have better things to do with our time.
