1. Payroll in the MLB has really gotten out of control the last 20 years or so. There was still parity in the 80's and even 90's.

2. The one winner doesn't tell the story of parity. Look at playoff streaks, look at number of returning playoff teams, or just average finish in the standings.

Are you trying to argue that the $40M payroll Oakland A's have just as good of a chance to win the WS as the $300M payroll Mets if they were just managed appropriately? GTFO with that. It's nonsense.
