being educated. Math has been corrupted. Etc etc.
30 years ago in the state of Missouri, if you were on an advanced math track in high school, you would take a year of calculus that was basically equivalent to Calc one and a decent percentage of Calc two that you might encounter in college.
My kids are now part of what is considered one the most advanced high school curriculums in the country, and all they get is roughly half a year of kind of sorta pseudo calculus. The science that they get is no better than the old AP biology or physics or whatever we used to take. The selling point of this program is that if you make it through it, then college is considered easy. The only aspect of that that is true is that the program has so much BS busywork that the kids are perpetually swamped with seven or eight classes and when they get to college they’ll only have to deal with four maybe five classes. I have explained to my kids that college isn’t going to be less complicated it’s just going to be less busy.
