Our Constitution has failed or we have failed it. Of that, there can be no doubt. A big part of the problem is that a large portion of our people do not share the values expressed in that document.
For the entirety of our country's history, there have been serious disagreements about the best path forward for our nation but underlying that was always a common sense of values. The bedrock of those common values was our Constitution. Today we have government, civil and educational leaders suggesting that entire parts of our Constitution should be scrapped. This has always been there on the fringes but these movements are now mainstream and very concerning.
