of the midterm results from November could be seen as a mandate of this kind of do nothing / anti-pragmatic behavior by the House.

I do get that this is somewhat of a hostage situation, but the normal folks in the House in that party had a chance to escape captivity last week and instead just decided to aid and abet their captors.
