They come from our ability to reason which I believe was given to us by God. I do not believe that he handed them down to us like the tablets of the ten commandments.

Our rights come from our ability to reason which is why different societies and different times have different views of individual rights. They are not one size fits all like some here believe.

When we are talking about our government rights are those things that as a society we have decided to put the full force of our government behind. In the relatively short time our country has existed those rights have changed and will continue to change.
