I think you overestimate the draw

For the ku side, this is their first bowl game in a generation. Their attendance and viewership will not change one iota if they play Mizzou or not.
For the Mizzou side, at least on TB, the fans seem to be split 50/50 if they even care about ku enough to warrant any extra emotion for the game, if we were to play them.
So what you wind up with is a small minority of fans that could be affected at all. And of those, I would guess their attendance and viewership will not be impacted at all no matter who we play. That minority of fans will just have some extra emotion related to the game, which I'll admit could make for an interesting gameday on TB.
But as far as actual affects on the game, that would be near zero either way.
