Mahomes trusted them, it's just they weren't in good places where he could get them the ball. Not rounding off patterns, running into coverage, not sitting down into zones, stuff like that. Not to mention when we played teams with good DBs, they couldn't get separation. He still got them the ball, just not quite as much.
Juju is becoming the go-to guy along with Kelce. I've noticed that MVS has had fewer drops than I expected. Mahomes really tries to throw him easy-to-catch soft balls as much as possible. Smart. MVS has gotten more comfortable because of it. Juju is on pace to get 1,100 yards, MVS, 8-900. Kelce about 1,200. It's Hardman who hasn't stepped up in catching more passes. He's tracking the same as last year, maybe a little less.
Toney is a Hardman replacement, at least. MVS is under contract for next year. Not Juju. I'd love to sign him back with us, but at a reasonable price. Next year when he's not a rookie, it's possible he'll be a Juju replacement if we can't resign him. It never hurts to get an upgrade to plug in. When healthy, that's Toney.
