of various discriminations, both real and perceived, many young blacks get into gangs or other "illegal" activities, such as drugs, weapons, and other sales.
Being part of those groups, if anyone does them wrong, they must react directly and cannot go to the police to solve their problems.
This is further perpetuated by the fact that many fathers have been arrested (many for non true crime activities) and put in jail ruining families..further perpetuating their feelings of discrimination in this society. In addition, the investments in their communities are horrible, making life's challenge even more, which tends to make these gangs more attractive to them.
Government sprinkles a bit of $$$$$ into their community to give the perception of help, but it is not. Other parts of governments (GOP and the police state) see them as thugs, criminals, and targets them.
Do this for 100 years and see what the result it.
A white person gets fired from a job and he is told to pull their pants up and go find another job. A black person gets fired from a job and it further feeds the perception of a racially biased world that they have no chance in.
That is the background, and no one is stepping up for them. They are being used and abused by both sides, and people think that big government (on both sides) is the answer, when less government is the actual answer.
