One of the most remarkable and influential people of our era. We’ll never know what his true motives were, but we know what he did, and most of it was good. Hundreds of million in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Republics owe their freedom in large, part to him. Unfortunately, the Russian people have not been able to say the same as they chafe under the lash of the Tsar.

The quintet of Gorby, JPII, Thatcher, Walesa, and Reagan, worked together to make the world a much better place. Now only Walesa remains with us.

And Gorby remained solid to the end, frequently publicly criticizing the Tsar at great personal risk.
