the Taliban aren't tough and courageous. Sure, many of their policies, if you can call them that, are pathetic and backwards, but I'd trust what actual soldiers who did the fighting over there in Afghanistan said about the Taliban.
And Russia just invaded Ukraine under a pretext of Naziism. China wants to take Taiwan by force. Both are nuclear powers and dictatorships. Again, it appears you think that if a politician points out how serious those types of things are, then they aren't.
Which is stupid. Even if you're a nihilist about what happens OUTSIDE US borders, what happens outside US borders affects our economy. The economy affects your household. Instability in the global economy is not good for the global economy, therefore the US economy and therefore your personal economy.
What is with your surface level understanding of how things work in this world? You seem to lack an understanding of the interconnectivity of how things work in the world and how things actually are, as told by people who would actually know.
Notice I didn't say I know the Taliban fighters are tough. I listen to people who would know.
I do know that Americans, as a whole, are not tough. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's similar to how we don't have to raise our own food any more. We're not tough any more because we don't have to be.
However, I find the notion that in a country that is diseased with rampant individualism, a bunch of individuals who are not tough could come together to overthrow a government which you spend a lot of your time saying is constantly meddling where it shouldn't, both politically and militarily.
I'd add that in 2022 what constitutes an outrage has been watered down to the level where it can't possibly sustain someone to kill their fellow citizens and overthrow their government in a sustained campaign.
As that article notes, you might see pockets of people who actually will lash out violently. But as a whole, the modern American male, even as ****ed off as he may be at the world, can't sustain that anger long enough, given all the sacrifice it would require, to make a difference.
And we'll never know, because it'll never happen.
