The US Navy is better trained and equipped overall and our submarine force dwarfs China's capability, but China is very well positioned in the West Pacific region and off it's own coast to defend against anyone, including the US.
As far as air support, China does not have the carrier capability the US does, but they don't need it in relation to Taiwan because it is so close to mainland China they don't need to support remote air capability like the US does in that region.
