For starters, here's how Louisiana defines it:
“Abortion” means the act of using or prescribing any instrument, medicine, drug, or any other substance, device, or means with the intent to terminate the clinically diagnosable pregnancy of a woman with knowledge that the termination by those means will, with reasonable likelihood, cause the death of the unborn child.
-- no mention of uterus.
Ohio:
""abortion" means the purposeful termination of a human pregnancy by any person, including the pregnant woman herself, with an intention other than to produce a live birth or to remove a dead fetus or embryo. "
-- no mention of uterus.
This is why people are concerned that termination of ectopic pregnancies may be criminalized.
