if electromechanical then the odds of it failing at that specific time are pretty low. If it was a mechanical function lock where it’s intended use is to be locked at all times, but an exit device has dogging capabilities, then that would make more sense. However, in the latter scenario somebody would have had to manually dog the exit device down.
