what did the GOP do to overturn it, assuming it gets overturned?

Trump appointed three associate justices.

The GOP voted to confirm justices that a president from their own party nominated.

I for one am usually surprised when Rs exhibit a backbone and take a principled stand on anything.

Not willing at this point to give them too much credit for this.
